Like many other community organisations in Aylsham, the Aylsham & District u3a is not just thriving, it is actively growing.

For anyone not in the know, u3as are essentially social groups for people who no longer work full-time and are no longer raising a family. They are run entirely by their members with the remit to help people develop new friendships, have fun learning new things, and share personal knowledge and skills. For Aylsham & District u3a, this is achieved via a diverse range of monthly talks given by guest speakers; outings to theatre performances, exhibitions and places of interest; social gatherings and meals; plus an extensive selection of special interest groups.

Members of Aylsham & District u3a are regularly starting new interest groups to cater for new interests, or to manage the overflow from existing groups that have become full. The types of interest currently covered include arts and crafts, games (e.g. card, board, word), books, music, history (e.g. social, family, historical buildings – which I currently run,) creative writing, foreign languages, sporting activities, walking and cycling, coffee and dining, gardens, technology.
